Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir - 'Lux Aurumque'

Submitted by ebremer on

In Eric Whitacre's virtual choir, 185 voices are stitched together to form a complete ethereal masterpiece.  For me, I couldn't help but imagine the separate voices as separate data sets, all beautiful on their own, but they become stunning when they are all linked together. <insert mental image of Semantic Web>

See Eric Whitacre speak at TED and catch his next virtual choir that has more than 2000 voices:

Introducing "The Book"

Submitted by ebremer on

This video released in 2001, shows a desperate monk trying to deal with a book for the first time after calling for support from "medieval helpdesk".  The monk, having only worked with scrolls, is quite perplexed and fearful of this new "technology".  This video is hilarious whether you look at it from the point of view of the support person or the monk.

Original taken from the show "Øystein og jeg" on Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK)in 2001. With Øystein Backe (helper)and Rune Gokstad (desperate monk). Written by Knut Nærum
